Angela Nolan, General Manager of Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas
Angela Nolan is stepping into the position of general manager for the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas in Maui after Gregg Lundberg vacates the position to take the general manager opening at Westin Maui Resort & Spa. Craig Anderson, Former GM of the Westin Maui, will move on as the general manager at Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort on Oahu.
“Angela’s passion for hospitality has proved effective in her impressive work with senior-level management at both local and mainland properties,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president and director of operations for Starwood in Hawaii and French Polynesia. “We’re excited to see this passion thrive even more in her new role as general manager for The Westin Ka‘anapali Ocean Resort Villas.”
Nolan says, “As the Hotel Manager at this resort the past 16 months, the transition into General Manager was a natural one. I am honored to take on this position and continue the incredible foundation of success that my predecessor, Gregg Lundberg built, over the last eight years.”
Since April 2010, Nolan has served as hotel manager for The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and played an instrumental role in the resort’s inclusion as an AAA-approved, Four Diamond resort in 2011 and 2012. This recognition was a first for the resort and also ensured its ranking in the Top Ten listing of Lahaina hotels in TripAdvisor in 2011.
Nolan ventured into the hospitality industry in 1995 with a college internship at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa and formally started her career with Starwood in 1997. Since then, she held leadership positions at the Kapalua Bay Hotel, the Sheraton Maui Resort, and played an integral senior leadership role in the opening of Trump International Hotel and Tower Las Vegas in 2008, and the Planet Hollywood Towers by Westgate, Las Vegas in 2009.
“Key initiatives include infusing Hawaiian teachings and local practices into our service culture to further enhance the guest experience and create authentic and unforgettable experiences through the resort’s cultural specialist Makalapua Kanuha.” Nolan says. “We will also continue the tradition of mentoring our next generation of leaders and provide internship and career opportunities in partnership with Hawaii’s established educational institutions including University of Hawaii’s Maui campus.”
Nolan holds a bachelor of arts in international business administration from Gettysburg College. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, outdoor activities and spending time with her family. “The ability to create memorable experiences for our guests and work with such incredible talent,” she said. “[O]ur associates are the ones who make a difference every day.”
