Hawaii Business Magazine has named Imua Family Services one of the best places to work in the state. This follows a national recognition from the Nonprofit Times.
“What makes Imua Family Services a great place to work? Three things: Doing great work for children and families on Maui; working with a stellar team of dedicated professionals; and working with the support of our community and county,” said Dean Wong, Imua’s executive director. “This recognition is a tribute to the efforts of our employees and their passion for achieving great outcomes for the children and families we serve.”
Imua Family Services provides comprehensive early childhood development services to children and their families with the support and resources needed to achieve their full potential in life. Each year, more than 2,500 residents on Maui and Lanai receive support from Imua Family Services through the Infant & Child Development Program, Early Childhood Development Program, Newborn Hearing Screening and Camp Imua.
Award selection was based on a comprehensive review of each organization’s benefits, career development, training and retention, as well as feedback from employees through an extensive survey. Imua Family Services has a staff of 40 and utilizes approximately 400 volunteers per year. The awards ceremony will take place on March 30 at the Sheraton Waikiki (the April Issue of HBM will also announce this year’s winners).
Imua Family Services was also recognized last October as a finalist by Pacific Business News Cades Schutte Nonprofit Leadership Award. Imua also won the Best Place to Work award from HBM in 2008 and 2010. The data collected for the awards are researched and analyzed by the Best Companies Group.
This year marks Imua’s 65th anniversary. Maui can anticipate several new events, programs and fundraisers this year, including a public performance at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center by Patrick Henry Hughes, the inspirational young man and author of I am Potential who made a national TV appearance on Oprah Winfrey Show. Other events include the Fantasia Ball Gala Fundraiser at the Grand Wailea Ballroom celebrating Imua’s 65 year anniversary, the 15th anniversary of the Roy’s Restaurants Classic Golf Classic and The First Annual Paddle Imua–a stand-up, six-man, OC1 and prone paddle fundraising event for Camp Imua.
