Adam Cabalo, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, Kaiser Permanente's Wailuku Clinic

Kaiser Permanente Maui is expanding their team with the addition of Adam Cabalo, MD, orthopedic surgeon; Lev Grunstein, MD, ophthalmologist; and Andrew Tan, general surgeon. All will work at the Wailuku clinic. These doctors join the crew of over 450 physicians and providers in Hawaii’s largest medical group.

Hawaii Permanente Medical Group takes care of over 230,000 members in our state. These three doctors will replace three others who are leaving — at press time Kaiser did not have the names of which doctors were being replaced.

Cabalo earned his medical degree from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed his residency in the orthopaedic surgery program at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. He recently completed a surgery fellowship at Spine Care Medical Group in Daly City, CA.

Lev Grunstein, MD, Ophthalmologist, Kaiser Permanente's Wailuku Clinic

A graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA Grunstein completed his residency at Louisiana State University Ochsner Ophthalmology Residency Program. He recently served as clinical instructor of ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Andrew Tan, General Surgeon, Kaiser Permanente's Wailuku Clinic

Lastly, Tan earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York and completed his residency at the Hospital of St. Raphael Surgical Residency Program in New Haven, CT. He completed the University of Hawaii Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at The Queen’s Medical Center and is board certified in General Surgery.

These new doctors join other recent hires Clair Coco, MD, a specialist in family medicine hired at the Maui Lani Clinic, and Amber Sakuda, MD, a specialist in psychiatry at the Wailuku clinic. Kaiser has more than 50,000 members on Maui and sees a growth in membership of about one percent a year.
